Infernal Machines w/ Lars Graugaard
“These talking machines are going to ruin the artistic development of music in this country. When I was a boy… in front of every house in the summer evenings you would find young people together singing the songs of the day or the old songs. Today you hear these infernal machines going night and day. We will not have a vocal cord left.”
–John Phillip Sousa, testifying before the US Congress 1906
The endangered guitar is Hans Tammen’s guitar-add-computer hybrid, and a vehicle for unending sonic explorations. Together with Lars Graugaard’s sophisticated interactive computer sounds, patterns and grooves they become Infernal Machines, and a world of rhythms and sonic escapes opens up. Their performances and recordings is music with tight electronic punches, dizzying chases and unreal, compelling atmospheres.
